Plan and develop long-term projects and programs to improve facilities throughout the County for years to come.Department DescriptionThe Capital Projects Department was created in FY2023 to provide for the management and delivery of all of BeaufortCountys capital projects related to buildings, grounds, parks, and programs, excluding transportation, which is managed bythe Engineering Department. The department oversees the entire life cycle of the projects from conceptual design, naldesign, permitting, construction management, inspection, and closeout. The Capital Projects Department directly oversees orassists in the implementation of projects from several funding sources including the Capital Fund (aka General Fund), impactfees, grants, bonds and special taxes. The department is a team of 5 full-time sta: Director, Capital Program Manager, andthree Capital Project Managers. In addition to sta, the Capital Projects Department extensively utilizes several consultantsand contractors to assist sta in delivering projects. The Capital Projects Department also oversees the accounting of theCountys Impact Fee Program, as well as the annual CIP Plan.Performance measures1. Financial responsibility to ensure projects stay within their allocated budget.2. Timely delivery of projects.3. Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with approved plans and specications.4.
