TheAssessors oce identies, map, classify, appraise, and assess over 133,000 parcels (including residential, commercial, mobile homes,agricultural, vacant, exempt, and non-exempt properties). Reassessments are conducted annually and quadrennially (every fth year) asmandated by the SC Code of Laws for all real properties within the County. Informal and formal hearings are also conducted to defendassessments before the Board of Assessment Appeals (BAA), the SC Administrative Law Court, the Circuit Court of Appeals, and the SCSupreme Court. The department also reviews legal residency, agricultural use, developers discount, and ATI exemption applications.Assessors oce role and responsibilities are completed by thirty-ve (35) full-time employees, lead to the production of an annuallycertied assessment roll for ad valorem taxation.
