To provide a temporary shelter for stray, unwanted or homeless animals, to maintain a vigorous liverelease program to include health screening, vaccinations and mandatory spay or neutering of same. All activities shall be in compliancewith state, federal and local laws and regulations and performed by a humane and professional sta.Goals and ObjectivesEnforce State, Federal and local animal related laws.Reduce the number of unwanted animals in the community by promoting sterilization of all pets thereby reducing the number of petseuthanized.Provide eective Animal Control Services to protect the public from roaming/vicious animals and diseases spread by same.Provide Temporary shelter for stray and unwanted animals, maintain vigorous program to reunite stray pets with owners and have avigorous live release program in place.Comply with State and National laws and guidelines when euthanasia is necessary.Hire and train a sta of caring professionals to carry out the goals and objectives.Enforcement of Animal related laws.Cruelty investigation and prosecution.A place to turn in unwanted or stray animals.Eective Animal Control Services which protect citizens from the danger of roaming animals and reducing pet population.Assist DHEC in enforcement of Rabies Control Act.Provide an Animal Service Ocer (ASO) on-call 24hrs a day 365 days a year to assist Law Enforcement and rescue injured orvicious animals.Information and recommendations for individuals being evacuated during disasters.Public Service talks and appearances to local schools, nursing homes and civic groups to increase awareness on animal relatedissues and pet overpopulation.Department DescriptionBeaufort County Animal Services (BCAS) provides services in accordance with its adopted mission statement. BCAS enteredinto an agreement with Hilton Head Humane Association (HHHA) for the joint operation of the new animal campus. In general,BCAS will be responsible for animal control for Beaufort County and HHHA will be responsible for the Adoption Center, spayneuter clinic and Medical Clinic.
