There are hundreds of individuals in Beaufort County who experience lifewith a wide range of disabilities such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. Services include Early Intervention foryoung children, Case Management for all ages, an Adult Services program that provides employment opportunities, andResidential living programs. Our services are designed to enable people with disabilities to live their lives as independentlyand as meaningfully as possible. We employee 130 full-time employees and four (4) part-time.Performance MeasuresBeaufort County Disabilities and Special Needs Department is currently serving more than 800 individuals and families, ofwhich 441 are provided Case Management services and 165 are provided Early Intervention services. We support forty-fourindividuals in Community Training Home II and one person in Community Training Home I as well as supervised independentliving for ve additional individuals. Our Adult Day program serves 120 people. DSN was audited in FY22 by SCDDSNthrough ALLIANT and scored 96.15% across all programs.Budget Highlights and Special NotesBCDSN receives revenues through dierent revenue streams, grouped for budget purposes as State, County and Fee/Grant. Eachof our 19 programs has some combination of those types of revenue.State monies are a combination of funds in the SC appropriations budget and Medicaid.Medicaid is funded as a state and federal match (approximately 3 federal dollars to 1 state dollar).County includes both the General Fund and DSN's Fund Balance.Fees/Grants include such revenue as consumer room and board which pays for their daily living expenses and the moniesearned by individuals who work various contracts with agencies like Goodwill and City of Beaufort.SCDHHS funds the largest part of our personnel and operations, supplemented with County funds used for salary and capitalitems. Grants have dened parameters that determine use of the funds.
