Beaufort County's Adopt-A-Highway program is growing, and we're actively seeking passionate volunteer groups, individuals, communities, and businesses to join us! The County takes immense pride in ensuring our area remains healthy and beautiful, and this program is invaluable in maintaining our community's aesthetic appeal and well-being.

Since 2006, Palmetto Pride, the parent organization of the Adopt-A-Highway program in South Carolina, has empowered over 800,000 volunteers to combat litter across South Carolina's roads and natural areas. Discover the incredible work our current volunteer Adopt-A-Highway groups do throughout the year by reading our newsletter here.

Why Join Adopt-A-Highway?

By becoming a part of our program, you will:

  • Contribute to a Cleaner, Safer Environment: Your efforts directly enhance the aesthetic appeal and safety of our roads, creating a more welcoming environment for everyone.
  • Reduce Taxpayer Costs: Every piece of litter removed by volunteers saves taxpayer money that would otherwise be spent on cleanup efforts.
  • Demonstrate Community Stewardship: Participation showcases your organization's dedication to environmental responsibility and community well-being, enhancing your public image.
  • Receive Public Recognition: Groups that sign a two-year agreement with Beaufort County and complete a minimum of eight cleanups within that period will receive road signage on their adopted section of the county or state road.
