Future Passive Parks

As passive park properties move through the planning and development process for public use, details will be provided and updated regularly. Projects currently being worked on are listed below.

  • Camp St. Mary's (Okatie)
    • After public review and feedback, the County approved the conceptual plan for Camp St. Mary's Park, which can be downloaded here.
    • County staff are currently working on property clean up and hiring an engineering firm to create the construction documents.
  • Fords Shell Ring (Hilton Head)
    • Beaufort County, the Town of Hilton Head Island and the Hilton Head Chapter of the Archaeological Society of South Carolina are working together to provide public access and historic interpretation of the 4,000 year old shell ring formation located on this 6-acre property.
    • County and Town staff are currently finalizing the necessary permits for the park plan, which can be downloaded here.
  • Okatie River Park (Bluffton)
    • Through public surveys and an open house meeting, the conceptual plan for Okatie River Park has been approved and can be downloaded here.
    • County Council approved the construction contractor and construction will begin in Spring 2024.
