County Paving Projects Begin This Week

Paving

Tuesday, October 4, 2022 12:23 PM

This week, Beaufort County is beginning roadway repairs and paving on several roads in Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, Beaufort and Yemassee.

Beaufort County hired F&ME Consultants, Inc. in 2021 to conduct a pavement condition survey on all County-owned roads five years after implementing the 2017 Five-Year Pavement Preservation Program. The results of the study helped develop the 2022/2023 paving plan.

APAC and its subcontractors will be conducting road paving activities and ask that any residents please refrain from parking in the street during the time of operations. This will be a day-time activity between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This is a target date and may be delayed or advanced due to weather and field conditions.

The schedule and timeframe for each road paving project is below:

Willow Trace Lane in Bluffton (10/5 – 10/6)
Sandy Pointe Dr in Bluffton (10/5 – 10/6)
Knightsbridge Rd in Bluffton (10/5 – 10/6)
Ann Smith Dr in Bluffton (10/6 – 10/7)
Soperton Dr in Bluffton (10/6 – 10/7)
Sandy Beach Trail on Hilton Head Island (10/8 – 10/9)
Cardinal Ct. on Hilton Head Island (10/8 – 10/9)
Palmetto Parkway on Hilton Head Island (10/8 – 10/9)
Gardner Dr on Hilton Head Island (10/8 – 10/9)
Professional Village Dr in Beaufort (10/9 – 10/10)
Prescott Rd in Yemassee (10/9 – 10/10)

Motorists are encouraged to use extra caution when approaching work zones.

The study surveyed 202 miles of Beaufort County maintained roadways in the County, as well as in the City of Beaufort, Town of Hilton Head, Town of Port Royal, and Town of Bluffton. Its purpose was to provide an update on pavement condition; measure the effectiveness of the roadways, preservation methods, and deterioration trends; and form a new five-year plan for pavement maintenance and preservation.
