Update to County Operations

Beaufort County Administration Building

Due to Covid 19, many county government buildings and facilities remain closed though some departments have adjusted to provide in-person services. The Administration Building, located at 100 Ribaut Road, has added a staffed information desk beginning Monday, February 8, 2021, to answer questions and to assist those needing in-person assistance. This information desk will be able to assist visitors coming to the administration building lobby. All visitors, indoors are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. 

Magistrate Court and Traffic & Criminal Court are now open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Visit the Magistrate Court website for more information.

The Beaufort County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Department (BCADAD) is re-opening for some face-to-face services on November 16th. Visit the BCADAD website for more information.

All county library branches have re-opened as limited public access with 50% of normal occupancy. Curbside service continues and bookmobiles will resume limited scheduled visits where customers will not be allowed on board. All library events and meeting room reservations remain suspended. Visitors and employees are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Beaufort County Parks and Recreation has announced openings which began November 30: 

  • Battery Creek Pool: Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 am - 6 pm​ only.
  • Beaufort Pool: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 8 am - 6 pm​ only.
  • Bluffton Pool: Monday thru Friday 8 am - 6 pm                                                         
  • Burton Wells Recreation Center: Monday thru Friday 8 am - 5 pm

All Convenience Centers remain open according to their normal operating schedules.

Operations at the Hilton Head Island Airport and Beaufort County Airport remain available. Travelers should contact their airline carrier for questions about flight schedules. Information on the operating status of the nation’s major airports can be found at www.fly.faa.gov. Inquiries regarding flight information at Hilton Head Island Airport should be directed to American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, or United.

Emergency and public safety services remain available as usual. 

County officials remind residents there are convenient ways to conduct business with the County during this public health crisis. Many services by the Assessor, Auditor, Business License, Planning and Zoning, Treasurer, and other County offices are accessible online, by phone, fax, or through the mail. 

Also, bins have been placed outside of the County Administration Building (Robert Smalls Complex, 100 Ribaut Road, Beaufort) for citizens to drop off and pick up paperwork such as business license applications, permit applications, and plans for review.  The County will invoice for any associated fees for submission that normally require immediate payment. Please do not deposit cash or checks in these bins, which will be monitored and emptied daily so that all paperwork can be processed accordingly.
