Contractors working for Beaufort County Engineering will begin installing traffic calming measures in Shell Point beginning Monday, June 22. Work is expected to be complete by the end of August, weather permitting.

Work will be performed at various locations on Shell Point Road, Broad River Drive, and Dogwood Street and will occur between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The project includes:

  • one raised intersection at Shell Point Road and Broad River Drive
  • nine speed humps: five on Broad River Drive, three on Shell Point Road,
    and one on Dogwood Street

During construction, lane closures, road cones and signage will be visible to direct traffic safely. Motorists and residents should be prepared for lane closures and are encouraged to use extra caution when approaching work zones.

Signs will be installed at each speed hump to caution motorists to watch their speed.
