Beaufort County has been awarded the 2026 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute (NPI). This prestigious recognition honors Beaufort County’s dedication to procurement excellence and reflects our commitment to innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership. This achievement demonstrates the highest standards in public and non-profit procurement practices. 

“After 29 years of public service in procurement, I am incredibly proud of the Procurement Services Department staff for their dedication, professionalism, and hard work in earning this prestigious recognition,” said Beaufort County Procurement Director, Dave Thomas. “Being honored by the National Procurement Institute with the 2026 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award is a testament to their commitment to excellence and outstanding service.” 

In 1995, the NPI established the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement program, designed to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement. This prestigious annual award is earned by those organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on criteria designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership attributes of the procurement organization. 

“This award clearly demonstrates that our procurement staff are true professionals who consistently uphold the highest standards of their profession. Their efforts bring great value to our departments, elected officials, and the County as a whole,” said Mr. Thomas. “I am honored to work alongside such a talented team, and this recognition brings well-deserved distinction to both their profession and the important work they do every day.” 

The Beaufort County Procurement Services Department's focus is to maximize the value of public funds in procurement, by contracting and management of efficient services, capital equipment, and material investments, while providing a quality procurement system that upholds tenets of integrity, responsiveness, and fairness to both internal and external customers.
