Beaufort County Engineering is hosting three public meetings to make brief presentations, share information and answer questions about the Lowcountry Council of Government's US 278-US 17 Corridor Study. The public meetings will be 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., with presentations at 4:10 p.m. and 5:10 p.m.
- Wednesday, May 20
Hardeeville Recreation Center, 285 John Smith Road (map) - Thursday, May 21
Palmetto Electric, 1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville (map) - Thursday, May 28
Hilton Head Island Branch Library, 11 Beach City Road (map)
The purpose of the meetings is to give County residents the opportunity to review concept boards and provide input on the recommendations on LCOG's US 278 Corridor Study from US 17 to Sea Pines Circle. The study includes proposed improvements that enhance safety, reduce crash risk, and improve roadway network connectivity as the area grows.
The corridor runs from Hardeeville to Hilton Head and will be divided into three segments: the Hardeeville segment, the Bluffton segment, and the Hilton Head segment. This study will not only analyze and incorporate recommendations from previous studies but also include updated recommendations based on new analyses.
The 278 Corridor Study Team is committed to engaging with the public through meetings to understand the existing conditions and to receive input on the recommendations that will be included in the corridor study. Read more here.
