Beaufort County Council voted this week to approve a resolution allowing public access to the newly installed electric vehicle charging station. Purchased with American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in 2023, the Beam Electric Vehicle ARC charging station is currently located in the parking lot of the Robert Smalls Government Center, County Administration Building, 100 Ribaut Road (map).

“This charging station allows us to deliver reliable, renewable charging at no cost to our County residents,” said Todd Davis, County Fleet Services Director. “I'm proud to be part of the County Fleet Services team that brought this project to fruition. It ensures that we are maximizing the value of this investment. This is the first County-owned charging station open to the public."

At this time, electric vehicle owners can recharge their vehicles at no cost.
