The Geotechnical exploration required as part of the design for the US 278 Eastbound Bridge replacement is scheduled to get underway this week. A barge is scheduled to arrive onsite Wednesday night, March 18, with barge setup activities expected to begin Thursday, March 19. If setup goes smoothly, drilling operations may begin that same day.

At this time, the work is expected to take approximately six weeks, weather and tide dependent. There are no anticipated traffic interruptions, as all work will be barge-based, occurring outside of the US 278 travel lanes.
