Beaufort County Engineering is hosting two public meetings to share information and answer questions about the Lowcountry Council of Government's SC170 Corridor Study. The meetings will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 12.

  • Wednesday, March 11
Palmetto Electric, 1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville (map)

  • Thursday, March 12
Robert Smalls Leadership Academy, 43 W. K. Alston Drive (map)

The purpose of the meetings is to help County residents understand current and future conditions along the SC 170 corridor by discussing proposed improvements that enhance safety, reduce crash risk, and improve roadway network connectivity as the area grows.

The SC 170 corridor is growing rapidly, and with that growth comes increased safety, traffic, and mobility concerns. Identified in the 2045 LATS Long Range Transportation Plan, this study will evaluate opportunities for improvements along 24 miles of SC 170 from US 21 BUS. (Boundary Street) to SC 46 (May River Road) in Beaufort County.
