Beginning January 1, 2026, active or former federal, state, or local judges or local certified law enforcement officers may request that their home address, personal cell phone number, and tax map number be removed from publicly available websites operated by or on behalf of the state of South Carolina and local government entities. Personal contact information that is stored on physical records or located on websites that require a login are not covered by the Act. To view the privacy protection act in its entirety, click here (S.C. Code Ann. 30-2-500, S.C. Code Ann. 30-2-700).

Eligible individuals who wish to request the restriction of their information must fill out an official request through the form located at SCCourts.org. Additional localized forms for supplemental information regarding real property and personal property may be required. Once all forms have been completed and notarized, they must be submitted to the relevant state or local government offices for processing.
