Beaufort County proudly recognizes the outstanding dedication of our Adopt-A-Highway volunteers and those who participated in the 30-Minute Challenge: they have gone above and beyond in 2025 to help keep our roads, waterways, neighborhoods, and natural spaces clean, safe, and beautiful.
So far this year, all County Adopt-A-Highway volunteers have contributed:
- 2,642 volunteer hours
- 4,147 bags of litter collected including bulk items.
- 62,455 pounds of debris removed
- 844 miles of roadway cleaned
Volunteers are from all over Beaufort County including the Town of Bluffton, the City of Beaufort, Saint Helena Island, Lady’s Island, Okatie, Seabrook, Sheldon, Shell Point, Hilton Head Island, Burton Wells, Lobeco, and Port Royal—representing a County-wide commitment to environmental stewardship.
These efforts not only enhance the beauty of our community but also protect local wildlife, keep local waterways healthy for nature and humans, improve road safety, and foster civic pride. Beaufort County thanks each and every volunteer for being a vital part of the mission to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
