Beaufort County Solid Waste and Recycling has partnered with South Carolina Department of Environmental Services' (SCDES) Smart Business Recycling Program Report Survey and Awards Application to collect data on business recycling efforts around the County.
Surveys are being accepted now through October 15. Data provided by businesses about their recycling efforts should be during the time period of July 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025. All information will be anonymously used in SCDES’s Solid Waste Management Annual Report.
To fill out the survey, visit https://des.sc.gov/smartbiz.
The Smart Business Recycling Program works with companies around the state to provide free, confidential technical assistance on recycling and waste reduction. Companies are asked to provide their yearly recycling data which is used anonymously in the SC Solid Waste Management Annual Report. It is not mandatory for businesses to submit their data, but doing so helps provide a more accurate picture of recycling in both South Carolina and specifically, Beaufort County.
Currently, this is South Carolina’s only way of collecting data on business recycling. This data helps SCDES, Beaufort County Solid Waste and Recycle, and local municipalities better understand recycling needs and resources across the state and is also used to help develop the County's recycling budget for next year.
Companies who provide data are eligible to become a Smart Business Award Winner. Learn more at https://des.sc.gov/smartbiz.
