Beaufort County Veterans Affairs is hosting a symposium specifically focused on healthcare professionals and social workers who have Veteran clients. The goal is to clarify and identify programs and services that are covered by Veterans Affairs. This will help caregivers understand eligibility requirements so they are sharing the most accurate information with their Veteran clients and their families.

The symposium will be Tuesday, September 30, 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at Palmetto Electric Meeting Room, 1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville (map).

There will be brief presentations by representatives from SC Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Benefits Association, Council on Aging and others. There will also be a panel discussion and question and answer session.

"This is the first time Beaufort County Veterans Affairs has joined with Agape Hospice and Friends of Caroline Hospice and reached out to the healthcare community to share this important eligibility information," said Beaufort County Veterans Affairs Department Director Caroline Fermin. "Like any other government program, it can be confusing. The more information we can share with the healthcare professionals working with our Veteran population, the greater the understanding of what those Veterans and their families qualify for. Life planning is stressful and confusing enough so if we can help eliminate some of that confusion then that's a great accomplishment."

Registration is required for seating and resource purposes.
