With Beaufort County being one of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina, managing taxpayer expense while expanding and reinforcing infrastructure projects are a major part of the balancing act coupled with finding a variety of dedicated funding sources.
Keeping the inherent natural beauty of the Lowcountry while ensuring new residents have access to the same level of services and resources is a priority. That requires forethought, advanced planning and consistently proactive efforts in prioritizing and funding infrastructure projects across Beaufort County.
Working in partnership with the Lowcountry Council of Governments--a connection between the local governments and the State and Federal programs who act as liaison with the local governments to identify and coordinate regional development, strengthen services, and cooperate for the mutual benefit to best serve citizens--Beaufort County prioritizes the balancing of smartly managing growth with expanding infrastructure projects.
Infrastructure projects include anything related to water, sewer, drainage, roads, public health and safety, streetscape improvements, transportation oriented public facilities, public safety facilities and services, health clinic facilities and equipment, and even sidewalks.
Projects currently receiving funding include:
