Detention Center Staff

May 5 through 11 is National Correctional Officers Week and Beaufort County wants to recognize and thank our County Detention Center staff.

Corrections workers are responsible for enforcing facility rules and maintaining order. Their duties create an inherent risk for on-the-job injuries and illnesses. Corrections workers include correctional officers, chaplains, healthcare providers, teachers, vocational instructors, drug treatment specialists, food service, and maintenance personnel. Corrections workers maintain institution safety and security by enforcing rules and regulations, facility security, and accountability of incarcerated persons.

BCTV created a video celebrating our Detention Center team led by Col. Quandara Grant. Watch the video here.

The mission of the Beaufort County Detention Center is four-fold:

  • To provide a safe, secure environment for the incarceration of persons admitted to the facility by various agencies within the Criminal Justice System.
  • To comply with Federal and State regulations on the operation of the facility and in the performance of the staffs' official duties.
  • To provide meaningful programs for inmates in the areas of resocialization, education, self-esteem, recreation and self-help.
  • To provide quality training for all staff in accordance with State and Federal guidelines and Accreditation standards.
