Join us on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 11 a.m., as we celebrate a significant milestone in continuing to enhance connectivity within our community. The groundbreaking ceremony for the New Laurel Bay Pathway marks a celebratory occasion for the Laurel Bay Area, Veterans Affairs, and the Marine Corps Air Station.

The Laurel Bay Pathway Project is funded by an 80/20 match by the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs and funds from the 2018 One Cent Transportation Sales Tax. This public pathway will seamlessly connect Laurel Bay Housing to the Marine Corps Air Station, creating a convenient route for residents, personnel, and those utilizing the trail for recreational activities.

Assistant County Administrator Jared Fralix emphasized the importance of increased pedestrian and bike-friendly paths, stating, “This pathway will help provide a safe and efficient route for both daily commutes and recreational activities. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the construction site, symbolizing the commencement of a project that will benefit all of our local families.”

We extend a warm invitation to the public and media to join us at the ceremony, witness the groundbreaking moment, and share in the excitement of this collaborative initiative.
