Highlights and Actions: Public Facilities and Safety Committee and Beaufort County Council Meetings

The Beaufort County Public Facilities and Safety Committee met Monday and voted on a variety of items. Below are some highlights:

  • Approval of an ordinance authorizing the Interim Count Administrator to enter into a lease agreement for real property located at 39 Airport Circle
  • Approval of contract award to RL Morrison for Alljoy Boat Landing repairs
  • Approval of contract award to O'Quinn Marine Construction for Whitehall Phase 2 Design-Build 
  • Approval of contract award to Terra Excavating for Southside Park Pickle Ball Courts
  • Approval of resolution to accept recommendations for the US 278 Corridor Project Joint Independent Review Performed by CBB and authorization for Interim County Administrator to send correspondence to the Town of Hilton Head requesting municipal consent for the project

The Beaufort County Council held their regular meeting beginning at 5 p.m., Monday evening.

Below are some highlights from that meeting:

  • Presentation by Coastal Community Development Corporation Workforce Housing Funding
  • Public hearing and second reading for an ordinance authorizing the Interim County Administrator to enter into a lease agreement for:
    • 30 Hunter Road with Edison Foard
    • 39 Airport Circle with High Tide Aviation Scenic Tours
  • Approval of a resolution authorizing the Interim County Administrator to enter into a MOA with the Town of Port Royal for maintenance of County-owned property Cherry Hill Park
  • Approval of an ordinance to amend Beaufort County's FY2023 budget ordinance to provide rollover appropriations for CIP approved but not completed in FY2023
  • Approval of an ordinance ratifying salaries for various elected officials
  • Approval of a resolution to award FY2023 Community Services Grants ($398,000) to community services organizations including (but not limited to) Habitat for Humanity of the Lowcountry, HELP of Beaufort, Hilton Head Island Safe Harbour, Hopeful Horizons, Low Country Legal Volunteers, Lowcountry Early Childhood Coalition, and Lowcountry Food Bank
  • Agencies, boards, and commissions appointments and reappointments
    • Board of Assessment Appeals-Robert Mackay
    • Planning Commission-Peter Cook, District 6
    • Disabilities and Special Needs Board-Fredreka Williamson

The next Public Facilities and Safety Committee meeting will be Monday, November 27, at 3 p.m.

The next regular County Council meeting will be Monday, November 13, at 5 p.m.
