Beaufort County Council held a Special Called Meeting of County Council today for purposes of hearing the personnel case regarding former County Administrator Eric Greenway. By unanimous vote, Council has decided to uphold the decision to terminate with cause.

Chairman Passiment read an extensive list of County procurement and procedure violations primarily related to the former County Administrator offering a contract to a company not qualified nor vetted by the County Purchasing Director or County Attorneys per County policy.

Additional violations read by Chairman Passiment related to the improper hiring of the former County Wellness Director which bypassed County hiring procedures, and as evidenced by text messages, involved a personal relationship between the candidate and the former County Administrator.

“What we did today was what we said we were going to do at the proper time,” said Chairman Passiment. “We were going to devolve all of the information.”

All the documentation presented by the Chairman on behalf of County Council outlining the violations and reasons for upholding the termination decision as well as the Grievant's Presentation can be found here.
