Renovations and the DHEC inspection on the Bluffton Pool located at 55 Pritchard St. have been completed, and the facility will reopen Monday, October 17, at 8 a.m.

"The Parks and Rec department is excited to have this facility reopen for our swimmers," said Shannon Loper, Director of Parks and Recreation. "It's a relief to know that the facility is structurally sound and can serve the community while we develop the long-range plan for the four County pools."

Pool hours around the County will be adjusted to the following:

Bluffton Pool - 55 Pritchard St., Bluffton

  • Monday – Friday 8 am – 12 pm and 1 - 7 pm
  • Slip & Splash Saturdays 10:30 am to 4:30 pm

Battery Creek Pool - 1B Blue Dolphin Dr. Beaufort, SC 29906

Charles Lind Brown Pool

  • Closed for the Season

The County Engineering department and C.E. Bourne and Co of Greenwood, S.C. completed $900,000 in repairs replacing the roof panels and structural roof clips that hold the roof to the structural beams. At the same time, the work also included refurbishing and removing corrosion from the beams. An anti-corrosive paint was added along with replacing the lighting over the pool.

The $900,000 was allocated from the $9 million surplus the County had from the Fiscal Year 2022 budget.

The pool was closed earlier in April after an initial inspection showed damage that created a high probability that the roof structure would fail in the event of high winds or heavy rainfall.

The Parks and Recreation Department is creating a master plan that includes developing the future concepts for the four Beaufort County pools.
