Burnt Church Roadway Improvements includes corridor improvements to approximately 1.3 miles from Bluffton Parkway to the intersection of Bridge Street/Alljoy Road extending approximately 250 feet down each intersecting route.

The design costs for this project is estimated at $1,411,333.91. Construction costs will be determined in the design process. The survey is currently scheduled to be completed in July, at which point the design phase will begin.

The improvements will include roadway safety, reducing congestion and enhancing bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. The bicycle and pedestrian accommodations will tie into the existing facilities and future facilities included in the Bridge Street Streetscaping project and the Alljoy Road Sidewalk project.

Beaufort County has contracted with Parrish & Partners, LLC, for design services on the project. Surveying and traffic counts are anticipated in the coming weeks, weather permitting.

Once the data has been collected and processed, preliminary design will be conducted to create alternatives for the roadway improvements. Beaufort County staff and the consultants will then hold a public meeting to present the alternatives and ask for citizen and stakeholder input.

To develop the conceptual design alternatives and bring them forward to the public will take approximately 9 months which will place public meetings in the Spring 2023.
