Overdose Awareness

Thursday, August 27, 2020 9:29 AM

Monday, August 31, is International Overdose Awareness Day. The Beaufort County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Department Prevention and Peer Support Staff will be available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., to distribute Narcan & Deterra Bags free of charge to County residents at both the Beaufort and Bluffton offices.

Staff will be available by appointment only at both BCADAD office locations: 1905 Duke Street, Beaufort, and 4819 Bluffton Parkway, Bluffton. For an appointment in Beaufort, call 843-255-6013; in Bluffton, 843-255-6025.

Narcan quickly reverses the effects of someone who may be overdosing and Deterra Bags are the proper way to dispose of expired, unwanted medication. In Beaufort County so far this year, there have been 20 overdoses with 17 of those attributed to opiates/opioids use.
