About the Board
The Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Beaufort County was established in accordance with Section 7-5-10 of the South Carolina Code of Laws and is made up of nine members appointed by the Governor of the State of South Carolina upon recommendation of the Beaufort County Legislative Delegation.
The Director serves at pleasure of the Board.

Allyne Mitchell, Chairman of the Board
Ms. Mitchell was appointed by the Governor in December, 2018. Her term expires December 2024.

Matthew Sweeney, Vice-Chairman of the Board
Mr. Sweeney was appointed by the Governor in May 2023. His term expires December 2026.
