Coronavirus Help for Families and Individuals

COVID-19 Resources for Relief and Recovery

Even though South Carolina may be reopening for business, we urge everyone to continue following operational procedures to reduce risk and adopting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommended practices of social distancing. Please wear a mask to reduce risk of exposure and to protect your neighbors.

Our community’s network of human service agencies are prepared to help residents get the help they need to weather difficult times and get back on their feet. If you are unsure of where to start, please call (843) 524-HELP. This will connect you with the United Way Help Line where a trained volunteer will provide guidance on your next steps to receive the support and assistance you need.

Community Directory

Our partners at the United Way of the Lowcountry have a helpful community directory with information about charitable agencies throughout our community. Users can select from categories using the left-hand dropdown menu. Helpful categories include Food Programs, Employment and Vocational, Financial Assistance and Basic Needs Assistance, and many others.

News and Updates

To stay abreast of the latest developments in our community and to receive news and updates regarding services available, please subscribe to the Human Services Alliance newsletter.

The mission of the Beaufort County Human Services Alliance is to promote and sustain activities that improve the quality of life for all Beaufort County residents by creating coordinated, comprehensive, and integrated systems of human services. The Alliance also serves as the backbone organization to Together for Beaufort County, an organizational framework that enhances our community’s capacity to address specific social problems. The Alliance works with partners including the United Way to make a lasting impact in our community.

Impacted by COVID-19 Closures?

Most agencies in our community now have access to additional funds and are providing additional services to aid with COVID-19 relief and recovery.

SC Thrive leads South Carolinians to stability by providing innovative and efficient access to quality of life resources. There are funds available for Coronavirus relief for low-income residents. Please visit their website to learn more.

This third-party independent website, NeedHelpPayingBills.com, has compiled a list of helpful resources to help residents access the help and services they need to get back on their feet. Needhelppayingbills.com partners with government programs, non-profits, utility companies, churches, charities and other organizations in an effort to provide information on assistance programs that are available both nationally and locally.
