Prevention

Beaufort County residents can take the following steps to help stay healthy:

  • Wash your hands [CDC Handwashing Video Link].
  • Cover your cough.
  • Stay home when you’re sick.
  • Appropriately dispose of tissues and other items that you've sneezed or coughed into.

There are currently no vaccines known to prevent COVID-19, however SCDHEC is encouraging people who are unvaccinated to get the flu vaccine. This protects individuals and the public and reduces confusion of more common respiratory illnesses with possible COVID-19 illnesses.
